Hanley Center Foundation’s 10th annual Dick Robinson Golf Classic raises $170,000
Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, April 14, 2009 – Celebrating its 10th year, the annual Dick Robinson Golf Classic took place on April 6 at the prestigious Old Palm Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens. Weather reports called for a rainy and humid day but it ended up being a windy and beautiful spring day – perfect for a day of golf as more than 75 golfers came together to support a good cause. Dick Robinson served as chairman of the tournament. Dick Hellawell and Heather Lyons served as Co-Chairmen for the golf tournament with Lawrence DeGeorge serving as International Honorary Chairman.
More than $170,000 was raised from the tournament that will benefit Hanley Center Foundation which, in turn, benefits Hanley Center’s Lifesaver Patient Aid Fund and its campus expansion. The Lifesaver Patient Aid Fund provides financial assistance to those seeking treatment for alcoholism or chemical dependency but are unable to afford treatment.
The day-long event began with a breakfast buffet followed by a pro demonstration with golf’s “Iron Man” Dana Quigley and then a shotgun start on the Old Palm course designed by golfing great and Hall of Fame member Raymond Floyd. After 18 holes, golfers and guests enjoyed a bountiful luncheon buffet, awards ceremony and a silent and live auction. The live auction featured the chance to attend the 11th annual Monte Cristo Cup Charity Pro-Am at Casa De Campo Resort in the Dominican Republic in December. Bob Lyons, husband of Co-Chairman Heather Lyons was the successful bidder of the Monte Cristo Cup trip.
