Treatment Knowledge (45 CEU’s) (Transdisciplinary Foundation)

Course Description
This course introduces participants to various modalities of treatment, the involvement and treatment of families affected by the disease of addiction and the use of support groups for the prevention of relapse. Additionally, the relationship of addictions to health, crime, and social problems will be explored. Treatment components for effective approaches of addictive disorders
will be examined.
Course Outcomes
At the completion of this course participants should be able to:
1. Identify and describe various models of treatment
2. Identify and describe various modalities of treatment
3. Describe the importance of the involvement of families in the treatment and recovery process
4. Describe and explain the use of support groups
5. Describe and identify the relationship of addiction to health, crime, and other social problems
6. Identify, describe, and explain various evidenced based treatment components
Course Format
Participants will be involved in lectures, small groups discussion, and small group activities.
