6th Grade: Slick Tracy

copyright Hazelden Foundation

The Slick Tracy Home Team Program is an alcohol prevention program designed for 6th grade students and their parents. Using comic books with activities, the program is implemented in a series of 4 to 6 classroom sessions, each 35 to 45 minutes long. Students complete homework exercises with their families.

Session topics include:

  • Facts and Myths about Alcohol
  • Truth in Advertising about Alcohol
  • Types of Peer Pressure
  • The Party and Consequences of Drinking

The central story, activities, and tips for parents make this curriculum an easy and fun way for families to discuss the serious issues surrounding alcohol.

The Slick Tracy Poster Fair is the final component of the program, which brings families and community members together to view the students’ completed poster projects.
