What is the Family Communication Workshop?
Hanley Center’s Family Communication Workshop is an optional day, designed to provide patients and their loved ones with a small group experience focused on improving communication skills.
During the day, patients and loved ones will

Gain understanding of effective communication styles.

Practice communication skills in a workshop type environment.

Practice ownership of personal thoughts and feelings by using “I statements”.

Practice positive ways to resolve conflicts.
The session is facilitated by Family Program Counselors from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

To reconnect and practice positive communication skills in a compassionate and respectful environment

To address transitional issues to lessen anxiety about life after treatment

To develop a simple plan that encourages continued use of positive communication skills
How do I enroll?
Talk with the primary counselor of your loved one who is in treatment. He or she will assess and determine if you and your loved one would benefit from the Family Communication Workshop at this time.
If your loved one’s primary counselor recommends the Family Communication Workshop, call the Family Program Coordinator at 561-841-1264.
