FAQ about treatment programs and services at Hanley Center:

What can I expect when I call an Admissions Specialist?
When you call, we will conduct a free, confidential telephone assessment. This assessment will help us determine if Hanley is the most appropriate treatment center for you or your loved one. Our compassionate team will answer any of your questions to ensure that we can best meet your individual needs. If Hanley is not a fit for you or your family, we will make a referral to an appropriate facility.
Will I have to discuss my life with dozens of people?
When you call us, you will be assigned a personal Admission Specialist who is responsible for overseeing your entire journey. You will not be passed between staff members. We understand that talking about addiction and your personal life is difficult and uncomfortable. Our goal for this process is to make it as comfortable as possible, from your first call and throughout your entire stay.
What if my family member needs an intervention?
Sometimes, the person suffering from addiction doesn’t see themselves as needing help and refuses treatment. One of our Admissions Specialists can help to determine if your family is in need of a professional intervention and make referrals to a qualified interventionist. Even in these situations, recovery is still possible.
What will my costs be for treatment?
The cost of residential care includes detox, medical care staffed with nurses 24/7, psychiatric care, services provided at our Center for Brain Recovery, therapeutic services, housing, and meals. Speak with an Admissions Specialist for specifics regarding cost and insurance options.
Does Hanley provide detoxification services?
Hanley offers onsite medically supervised inpatient detoxification, which is included in our residential treatment programs.
What family involvement is included in the treatment process?
Hanley considers addiction and alcoholism to be family diseases that affect the entire family system. Our goal is to heal the whole family. Families are encouraged to participate in our five-day Family Program, which combines therapeutic interaction with the patient and with other families, education, and support. After admission, one of our Family Program team members will call to discuss Family Program dates and options.
What substance use disorder treatment programs does Hanley Center offer?

We offer evidence-based, patient-driven care, and programming tailored to your unique needs. Hanley offers age-specific and gender-specific treatment programs with both residential and outpatient services for adults and older adults. Our programs include:

Do you treat co-occurring mental disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder?
Yes. Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from co-occurring mental disorders such as depression, bipolar disorders, or anxiety. Co-occurring conditions must be treated at the same time as the disease of addiction. Hanley Center provides psychiatric evaluation and medication management as well as fully integrated psychological therapy and counseling services.
Are there psychiatrists and psychologists on staff?
Yes. At Hanley Center, we have a full-time psychiatrist and psychologists who treat substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders.
What is the length of a residential stay for substance use disorders?

Given the impact addiction has on the brain and the time required to heal it, Hanley Center establishes a minimum initial residential stay of 45 days for those in the men’s and women’s programs.

What is the length of stay for the Older Adult unit?

Older adults in treatment are more likely than younger adults to have significant medical complications as well as issues related to depression, anxiety, and dementia. For these reasons, the Center for Older Adult Recovery is designed with a minimum of a 60-day program to allow for healing to begin in the body as well as the mind and spirit.

Does Hanley Center offer 12-Step substance use disorder treatment?
Treatment at Hanley Center is based on the 12-Step paradigm is coupled with evidence-based clinical therapies, medical, and spiritual care. We treat the whole person: body, mind, and spirit.

All mobility levels can be accommodated by our one-story structures built for easy accessibility. The Hanley Resource Center features an auditorium, our Family and IOP programs, administrative offices, and meeting rooms on 45th Street. Is there any follow-up after discharge?

We offer weekly Alumni Support Groups and monthly Anniversary Night celebrations. Our annual Alumni Reunion celebration takes place during an entire weekend each October.
